Welcome Note from the Executive Director

Welcome to our Junior Achievement Swaziland (JAS) website! It is a privilege for me to join JAS when the organisation is actively working and positioning itself to be a preferred partner in youth entrepreneurship and financial literacy. I believe every young Swazi person has a responsibility to create their own economic success in the world. Junior Achievement therefore provides the platform and opportunity for young people to learn and experience first-hand the dynamics of how to start, run and manage an enterprise, while at the same time exposing them to financial literacy and work readiness skills.

JA Swaziland’s new strategic direction is to strengthen and create an impact in both our in-school and out of school youth programs.Every leaner in a school implementing JA programs must have the full dose of the JA initiative. This is to say that the students must grow with the program through partaking in the financial literacy program, then engage in the practical hands on JA program as well as experience the work readiness program through the Job Shadow program. To ensure that this goal is attained, we are endeavoring to partner with all the role players in the financial sector. This includes banks, insurance companies, investment companies and other related financial institutions. We hope that this will ensure that every leaner is acquitted with financial literacy skills in order for them to better understand the world of finance and economics which will translate to informed and sound decisions in their lives.

JA Swaziland seeks to create more partnerships that will enable expansion of our Out of School Youth Program to the level where our young people are self-sustainable and are able to create businesses and employment for others. Subsequently this will broaden the base of SME’s in the country which is a backbone to a vibrant economy. Therefore the scene is set for all young people across ages to showcase their innovation and entrepreneurial skills that will sustain their livelihood and further contribute to growing the country’s economy.

Let us all be a part of this transformational journey that will impact young people’s lives for the better.

Thank you so much!
Sboniso Madlopha. Executive Director. Junior Achievement Worldwide/Swaziland.
